For those of you who don't know, and even those who do, it is in our longer-term plans to release a large portion of the Khalidine script and system base to the community, in the form of a 'turnkey PW' solution. The intent is to provide a base platform for people to launch NWN2 PWs without worrying about scripting all of the redundant, basic systems that every PW must include. This will let them focus on things like area building, scripting for quests and special needs, and story/lore/environment development.

You have my unconditional support on the matter Grinning Fool. Which reminds me that if you are to have more time for scripting someone has to do the testing and world/lore development part. Oh well - back to the Wiki and Dialog Manager.
A tiny question - will this package include the web-based tools planned as well? Things like the Dialog Manager, Quest System Manager, Player Online Tools, DM Online tools etcetera?

Probably a subset of them.
There is another PW team that will be using this system initially (the friendly folks from Alventyr, some of you may have seen Elrahc in IRC from time to time) and helping us to work the kinks out in the early days.
I should also clarify: I won't be spending any really dedicated time on preparing the underlying system for release until after our beta/rc is well underway. My plan is to have a polished, complete release in late summer or early fall of next year.

Running a local pre-pre-pre-version of that object, you deserve all my support and greetings.

I fully support this and will be happy to help test and add in my knowledge of story telling and building adventures. Next year (2008) will be an incredible ride filled with a ton of knowledge and first hand experience as I return to school for specialized areas like this. If you have any questions or suggestions of how I may be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me =)

Hey, I'm TripleAught from Avlis. Camb pointed me towards this forum and I really like the idea you're proposing for a package of PW systems that can be easily implemented. I work on the Design side over at Avlis, so I'm not much good with code. But, I am good with banging around ideas to get them into work-able shape so the people with code skills have a clearer path to systems that work well. I can't give an official word on collaboration with Avlis (though I'm in agreement with it). But, I'll try to get involved here when I can pull myself away from getting our world launched

Sounds good, I look forward to working with you (and hopefully other Avlis members) as the project gets rolling

I think this is a major step forward in getting the PW community moving...The community is struggling to get decent PWs out there because of the time in creating good quality areas and getting the resource to help in these worlds, I am currently working on my PW (The Realms of Arion) but have stopped work for now to help GF on his world.
I offered my help to GF because I think the PW community needs to work a lot closer together to get work out there...something that I believe GF is heavily committed to.
I am working on a number of Interiors for him at present and hope to also play on the server once it is up...I am definately interested in picking up the Beta of this starter module for PWs for Arion when it is complete.

Hello, all.
I'm Elrahc, co-founder of Alventyr that Grinning Fool mentioned in an earlier post. I'm dedicating the month of March to this project and will be at GF's beck and call. No doubt this will be a terrific foundation for anyone that wishes to start a PW, and I am here to contribute.

It's like Linux for the joystick generation. Happy day!
I'm really looking forward to the completion of the project.
