Because of the mature nature of our intended audience, we don't see the need for a large number of rules for our players; however, we do expect that those rules which we do have are followed.
- Use common sense and consideration.
You are not the only player on this server; if you keep this in mind, and remember that your actions affect players as well as Player Characters (PCs), all of the rules below this point become redundant.
- Role Play
This is an Role-Playing (RP) server, so participants are expected to roleplay their characters. You don't have to be a stellar role-player to succeed, but you do have to stay in character.
- Exploiting and Muling are expressly forbidden
In addition, rewards are given for prompt reporting of exploits. Muling is the act of transferring items and other things between characters owned by the same player. Exploiting is knowingly abusing the in-world and/or in-game rules, such as taking advantage of scripting errors to gain experience, gold, or other benefits. "Gifting" of powerful items to lower level players is also considered exploiting.
- Player versus Player Combat
- Character vs. Character (CvC) is OK; Player vs. Player (PvP) is not.
- PvP interactions are allowed but are not encouraged. They must have an in-character basis for the conflict.
- Explicit Out Of Character (OOC) consent must be received in an in-game "Tell" beforehand from the intended target. The target player should treat this as OOC information; his or her character shouldn't gain any benefit from this knowledge.
- Attempts to pickpocket another PC automatically imply PvP consent from the pickpocketer.
- Griefing is prohibited. Griefing is the act of knowingly harassing another player.
- Character Submissions and Limits
- Character submissions must be made and approved in order to advance a character past level three.
- A player can have a maximum of three approved PCs on this server.
- All characters are final. We will not de-level and re-level a character because you made a mistake in your character build. We are always willing to remove levels -- but not to give them back.
- Reimbursements and Resurrections
- There is no lost XP or item reimbursement, no matter how convincing the reason.
- The only two situations in which your dead PC will be raised by a DM: DM error, or PvP death that was not a result of PvP you agreed to.
- In-game chat and parties:
- Keep OOC comments to a minimum. Everybody enjoys the periodic OOC funny remark, but we shouldn't be seeing entire OOC conversations. If it's not related to the game, keep it to Tells or IM. DMs are fully within their rights to penalize XP for excessive OOC remarks. This applies at all times, and not just during quests.
- No Party Chat. It spams the DM channel, and on a busy night can make it hard to track the things we need to track. The party chat channel on Khalidine is configurable -- you may choose to have it automatically cause your character speak in his native language, or work in 'command mode' to issue voice system commands.
- One-zone-of-separation rule: Generally speaking, if more than one zone separates you from your companions, you should not be in a party with them.
- Explicit Sexual Relations aka "cybering".
No explicit sexual content is to be shared in any way using Khalidine servers. Implied relationships are acceptable in-character, but the explicit details must be assumed.
- A DM's decision is final.
The DMs are always willing to discuss specific issues/examples with you in private, but will not interrupt the flow of quests or game play to do so. Once a decision is made, it will be not be reversed without compelling evidence.
- Recommendations
- OOC information sharing is discouraged.
- Camping is not forbidden, but can have harsh consequences. At the DM's discretion, the creatures being camped may retaliate in force. Any soul debt or death tokens acquired will not be reimbursed. If you react quickly when this occurs, it may be possible to escape alive. Camping is considered staying in one area exclusively to repeatedly kill the same group of monsters.
- Player-requested Dice rolls You are encouraged to use the tools at your disposal for roleplaying your character -- this includes rolling against a skill or ability in situations where you just don't know what your character would do. However, remember that the only time you are obligated to cooperate with the results of a requested dice roll is if the request is issued by a DM.
