The problem: too many people disappear after being entrusted with one or more tasks.

The solution: I'm no longer going to waste my time trying to PM people to see if they're still helping, then waiting a week or two for a reply. If I don't hear from you once a week in IRC or via PM (unless prior arrangements are made), you get removed from the project.

Even if you haven't accomplished anything in the intervening week, I need to know you're still working on whatever it is you've agreed to work on.  It will only take a minute to do this, and I have a hard time believing that even the most busy among us can't find 60 seconds out of the 604800 seconds available in a week to write a PM.

Frankly I can't think of any other way to ensure we're not crippled by people vanishing at whim, though I'm open to suggestions.

Secondarily, up until this point we've been taking anyone will to help out.  From this point forward, we will be requiring samples of your work - no matter if you're an area artist, scripter, builder, or writer.  This is not because of issues with the quality of work we have received -- overall it has been very good -- but rather to reduce the "freeloaders" who wish to join up with the project simply to gain access to more information about Khali, with no intention of actually contributing.   This is directly related to the issue stated above.
