Humans who can trace their bloodline back to the agents of Gods or demons, aasimars and tieflings are exceedingly rare in Khalidine. No one is entirely sure where the originals of each race came from, but most now on Rykil are the sons and daughters of previous generations. While eventually the extraplanar blood in their veins will be thinned to the point where future generations will be simple humans, most aasimars and tieflings have aasimar and tiefling children as well. Some scholars estimate that it may take a hundred generations for the human blood to dilute the extraplanar blood enough, but no one is entirely sure.
Commonalities Because aasimars and tieflings are so rare, most never meet another. Despite that, there are some commonalities to the races. The first is the misconceptions most people have; because aasimars descend from agents of gods, most believe them inherently good, while most think tieflings are inherently evil. This is not the case; depending on where their blood came from, aasimars and tieflings can be predisposed to any alignment. Secondly, family tends to be important, either positively or negatively. Some are very close with their parents and learn from them; others hate their parents for giving them this condition. Either way, they tend to have strong feelings for their parents and siblings, and almost all of them know the origin of their planar blood. Beyond these similarities, however, individual aasimars and tieflings may differ wildly in professions, capabilities, and personalities. In Society Tieflings are not received as well in society as aasimars, namely because aasimars are viewed as partially divine creatures while tieflings are the descendants of the God-forsaken demons. However, even aasimars may be poorly received if the populace does not look favorably upon their related deity (aasimars of Falkrin, for instance, rarely divulge the roots of their lineage, even if they know it). Regardless of race, both aasimars and tieflings find themselves viewed with awe and given plenty of space wherever they go. Merchants and innkeepers may be reluctant to do business with them due to divine ramifications, and most humans will not consider a relationship with either due to the blood that would be passed on to their children. While a few religious people may seek them out, most aasimars and tieflings live very solitary existences. Player Expectations Players selecting either of these races should be expected to be viewed with awe by others, and that does mean fear. Divine beings, whether good or evil, are going to be thought of as powerful and dangerous creatures, regardless of the truth of those beliefs. Mobs may gather to deal with them, or taverns may empty at their presence. Whatever the reaction, if the individual's divine heritage is made apparent, expect strong reactions. While aasimars may receive rather warm receptions in the right setting, a sign of a god's good will toward the people, tieflings can expect to be shunned by nearly any and everyone who realizes what they are.
