Update: due to ongoing technical difficulties, we are moving start of beta to [no later than] 10:00AM on July 5th. Mark your calendars: July 5th at 10:00AM EDT, Khalidine finally opens for beta. Thanks to everyone whose hard work brought us to this point, as well as to all of youwho h ave been waiting for so long for Khalidine to come to life. The format of the day's events will be mostly freeform, with a couple of starting story hooks planned for good measure. Remember that we don't have a single overarching plot here -- instead we bring you a mix of stories over time- some will be related, and some will not. And sometimes, you won't find out which is which until much later ;) While we are an RP server, we try to draw a reasonable line - if you make a good attempt at roleplaying, nobody's going to give you a hard time. Just a couple of reminders:
- Create your characters and play! You're not even required to register on the forums to begin playing. However if you decide that you like the PC you've created, you'll need register and submit a character background before you can advance to 4th level. Remember as well that DMs are much more likely to involve PCs with submitted backgrounds in their long-term plans. Even a brief PC history shows a commitment that makes DMs more willing to commit their own time to you in turn.
- Please familiarize yourself with our rules - we don't have many, so it shouldn't be too painful.
- We use Audolo to manage our files. Full instructions on how to download files will be placed in a prominent location on the web site on the morning of Beta.
- You may want to save some skill points at character creation - almost two dozen more custom skills will become available to you at second level.
- At the end of beta, we will be performing a character wipe. However, characters will be able to recover at least some of their experience and money, depending on what kind of balance-shifting changes are made. The events that happen in beta do "count", and become part of the server's history.
- Lastly, remember that on Khalidine, levels are not a measure of success as far as NPCs are concerned.
Finally, while we have the basics (willing DMs, willing players, more than a few good stories, and some key systems), there are still a couple of systems that will not be available: - crafting
- static quests
- storage and housing
